Eating Placenta Doesn’t Have Any Health Benefits
According to the latest research from the United States, eating placenta, after childbirth, cannot give energy to women and cannot protect her from depression. Women believed that placenta contains certain vitamins which are good for health. Because of this, many women eat placenta in recent years. Research, by the Northwestern University found that there are no such benefits.
Researchers from this study said that the number of women who ate placenta was increased in the last few years. All of those women believed that eating placenta has several health benefits. Researchers said that there are no benefits of eating cooked, raw placenta or in pill form.
Women eat placenta because it should: increase energy, reduce pain after childbirth, help with bonding between mother and child and help with breast milk production. In reality, there are no benefits like this. Also, the placenta may contain viruses and bacteria.
Cynthia Coyle from the Northwestern University, said that women don’t know how to store and prepare placenta. They don’t even know what the correct dosage is. Because of this, women don’t know what they eat. The placenta is rich with the blood flow, but it can be hard to ingest. Researchers and experts say that eating placenta should be a woman’s choice. There is no reason to eat it, but if you really want, you can.
There are many women who avoid this, in fact, just a small percentage of women eat placenta. Now, there is proof that eating placenta doesn’t have any health benefits. Actually, it can be dangerous for new mothers.
